  • July 2010 - The employment team has successfully brought a claim for sex discrimination and unfair dismissal on behalf of a client who was dismissed for pregnancy related reasons following a two day hearing. The employer had tried to claim that he knew nothing of his employee's pregnancy and that he had made her redundant. The Employment Tribunal disagreed and our client was awarded a substantial sum by way of compensation.

  • June 2010 - The firm succeeded in establishing unfair dismissal on behalf of a client when she was made redundant by her building society employer. The employer had not followed the correct dismissal procedures.

  • February 2010 - The employment team advised a large haulier on their potential employment liabilities when they sought to acquire ongoing distribution contracts from a national aggregate and building materials supplier.

  • February 2010 - The employment team advised a small local employer on their rights and responsibilities after they were told to dismiss an employee by the police without reasons being given.

  • January 2010 - The employment team obtained a substantial award for a client at a mediation hearing after she was allegedly discriminated against by a large regional employer following their failure to promote her to a more senior position.

  • November 2009 - The employment team trained managers of a regional hotelier on health and safety employment related matters.
